20 hours after our departure fromVancouver we arrived at Bangkok’s totally impressive, modern and “space age like” airport. Our hotel picked us up and by 1am we were settled in our very cool little hotel, complete with gorgeous dark teak wood everywhere. Our poor hotel guys at the hotel huffed our 5 x 40lb suitcases up 4 flights of stairs to our room, teasing that we must have refridgerators in them. (We didn’t try to explain in our limited Thai that we were mules for 1750 candycanes, a suitcase of gifts for missionaries and orphans…)
We loved our room, but we couldn’t sleep (and didn’t really want to either!) So, off we wandered, down the alley to some street vendors and had THE MOST AMAZING SOUP IN THE WHOLE WORLD. It was our first taste of Thailand, and we were sold.
